Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IEA)

The Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA in its Portuguese acronym) of the University of São Paulo is dedicated to the interdisciplinary analysis of fundamental questions related to science and humanities and to the discussion of public policy issues. The advance of sciences (both natural and social), technology and innovation, as well as outstanding cultural and artistic manifestations are the object of study of researchers from multiple areas. Debates about public policies are held in partnership with significant segments of Brazilian society, emphasizing themes that are essential for Brazilian socioeconomic and institutional development. Due to the nature of its activities, IEA plays a significant role in the enhancement of scientific and cultural exchange between the University of São Paulo and other Brazilian and foreign institutions (universities, research institutes, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, cultural and scientific entities etc.).
