Zeqi Qiu
As a visiting scholar, Professor Qiu will give two lectures. The first will take place on March 11 at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) in Limeira. In this presentation, he will trace the history of China, a long and uninterrupted process from the imperial era to the present day, analyzing the characteristics that have allowed it to occupy a leading position among the major powers of the contemporary world.
According to the researcher, this Asian country is distinguished by its high degree of political integration, aimed at ensuring the well-being of its population through a systematized and integrated economy and an organized society, while also being culturally diverse and inclusive. The Chinese sociologist argues that the profound changes China has undergone over the past forty years stem from its integration into the international community and its history and cultural heritage.
On March 19, the Institute of Economics (IE) at Peking University will host Professor Qiu's second lecture, focusing on digitalization in China and its sociological implications. Professor Qiu will explain how the country has been shaped by innovation and the application of digital technologies in various fields, particularly its digital infrastructure. He will trace this intense process of technological innovation and its applications in the economy, society, and governance. Following his presentation, Professor Qiu aims to provide a comprehensive overview of China's progress in the digital age, its current stage of development, and its future prospects, emphasizing the crucial role of national policies in digitalization through the lens of sociological theory.
